- About -
Hi, and welcome to Horshamite, a website intended for (but not limited to) the residents or former residents of Horsham, a small market town in Sussex, England.

Horsham has had a long and colourful history. The name first appeared in a charter of 947 AD, when it referred to a meadow used for keeping or breeding horses. Although not mentioned in the Doomsday book, Horsham had become prosperous by the thirteenth century when it was an important market town and later a stop on the staging route from London to Worthing and Littlehampton. Further development came with the arrival of the railway in the 1840s, and with A-roads linking it up to other towns in the area, Horsham is still a local hub for the numerous surrounding villages.
